This mini-unit explores the concept of migration, migrants, and the long history of humans moving from one place to another on this great giant globe we call home.
Throughout 12 pages taken from issue one, students will explore what migration means, how and why some people embark on migration journeys, and they will be asked to engage in thought exercises exploring what embarking on a migration journey would feel like. This unit also includes two stories that help students learn about people who have worked to welcome migrants and have worked to establish collective spaces and aid programs.
This unit includes a suggested educator prompt sheet along with a student worksheet.
Some questions posed include:
Where did your/your family's ancestors migrate from?
What are some reasons that a person might consider migrating?
